When the sun becomes part of everyday life at kindergarten

At Radonić Kindergarten in Drniš, a 6 kW solar power plant installed on the building's roof has been generating electricity to meet the kindergarten's needs since 2024.

The kindergarten's director, Niveska Vlaić, explains how the children see this change as a tangible, everyday contribution to the environment:

"The plant generates around 9,000 kWh of electricity a year, covering almost all of our annual electricity consumption. This means lower costs for the kindergarten and a reduction of more than one tonne of CO₂ emissions each year, roughly equivalent to planting almost 60 trees annually. But for us, the value of this power plant goes beyond the figures. Every day, the children see that the sun is not simply something they learn about through stories and picture books. Here, on the roof of our kindergarten, it generates energy. This is a simple, everyday lesson about nature, responsibility and the future, a lesson the children do not learn by rote, but experience first- hand."

A school that leads by example

At Jakov Gotovac Primary School in Unešić, which is located near one of our renewable energy projects, the 10 kW solar power plant on the school roof has long been more than a technical solution.

The school's headteacher, Živko Bulat, explains that pupils also recognise the tangible, measurable contribution this change makes to the environment:

"Our pupils know that the solar power plant on the roof of our school helps us reduce our day-to-day operating costs. They also know that it enables us to avoid more than two tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year, the equivalent of planting almost 100 trees annually. It is the best example of a responsible approach to nature and the future, built every day through what children see, understand and experience at school."

When a love of nature spans generations

The Krka Lozovac–Konjevrate Hunting Association has been active since 1952 and today brings together 99 full members and six associate members from Lozovac, Konjevrate, Gradina, Čvrljevo, Brnjica, Goriš, Radonić and Šibenik. Together, they care for the XV/106 common hunting ground and the Trtar state hunting ground. In 2022, the Association celebrated 70 years of activity, with a growing number of young members continuing its long-standing tradition.

The Association’s secretary, Josip Gulin, explains what this support means for their day-to-day work in the field:

"Our work is first and foremost about caring for the natural environment and the wildlife that call this area home - from maintaining watering and feeding stations to protecting habitats throughout the year. We are proud that a growing number of young members are joining us in this work, and we are grateful for your support. It means a great deal to us, as it helps us pass on a tradition spanning more than seventy years to future generations."

Nature does not ask who the sponsor is – it asks us to act.

Near Lozovac, outside Šibenik, we joined volunteers, scouts and local residents in restoring woodland destroyed by wildfires as part of the Boranka campaign. As a company investing in renewable energy, we understand that sustainability is not merely a word, but an ongoing process. Giving back to nature what development may sometimes take away is an equally important part of that process. The credit for that day belongs first and foremost to everyone who put on their boots, picked up a shovel and helped lay the foundations for a new forest. We are proud to continue supporting reforestation in the years ahead.

When bees become part of our story

Bees are essential to biodiversity, pollination and the balance of the ecosystems on which we all depend. We are therefore proud to support the protection of bee colonies and local ecosystems. Environmental responsibility means caring for nature in the broadest sense – from producing clean energy to safeguarding biodiversity. We do not build a sustainable future through major projects alone, but also through practical actions that protect the life around us. Without bees, there can be no balance; without balance, there can be no sustainable future.

When training becomes more than a game

The Dražen Petrović Youth Basketball Club was founded in 1997, when around 15 boys began training in a single school sports hall in Šibenik. Today, the club brings together hundreds of children from across the county, and NBA player Dario Šarić is among those who came through its ranks. Alongside sporting development, the club pays particular attention to children from disadvantaged backgrounds through programmes such as "Basketball for All", opening the doors of the sports hall to every child.

Club secretary Josip Milaković explains what this support means for its day-to-day work:

"What we are building is not just the next generation of athletes. We are helping children learn, through hard work, team spirit and respect, what it means to belong to a community. We are grateful to every partner who recognises the value of this work and enables us to keep moving forward."

NK Zagora – a tradition that grows with every new generation

For more than seven decades, NK Zagora in Unešić has been a place where sport, growing up and a strong sense of belonging to the local community come together. Alongside its senior team, the club operates six youth age groups with more than 150 children, who learn the values of teamwork, discipline, perseverance and mutual respect through sport.

Through our donation to NK Zagora, we supported a club that has been bringing players and supporters together for decades while providing children and young people with a place to develop, belong and experience the power of community. Clubs like this are an important pillar of local life: they connect people, preserve tradition and create opportunities for new generations to grow through sport.

From restoring cultural heritage to children's festivals full of colour and ideas, we support events and initiatives that preserve the community's identity and bring generations together.

Preserving our heritage together

Through our cooperation with the Juraj Dalmatinac Society for the Preservation of Šibenik Heritage, we took part in restoring the vault of the passage leading to Four Wells Square, one of the city's recognisable historic landmarks. We later supported the Juraj obnova project, an extensive restoration of 94 historic portals in Šibenik's old town, around ten of which have already been restored, along with three sets of doors and part of Tambača Tower.

We also support the Šibenik Branch of Matica hrvatska, which has organised the Danilo Art Colony for 11 consecutive years, bringing artists together in the village that gave its name to one of our wind farms, Danilo.

A Sail of Good Ideas sets course through Šibenik

For more than a decade, we have been a proud sponsor of the Šibenik International Children's Festival. This year, we took part in the festival with a creative and educational project entitled "A Sail of Good Ideas", featuring an installation shaped like a stylised boat with a sail evoking the wind, the sea and movement. During the festival, children were invited to draw or write down their ideas about how the sun and wind help the Earth. Day by day, their artworks filled the sail displayed at the Croatian National Theatre in Šibenik, transforming it into a collective work of art created through play and creativity.
